2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty Dominates Diesel Market In Saskatoon

Achieve peerless payload performance in Saskatoon - courtesy of the 2023 F-250 Super Duty and its available turbo diesel V8. While this fleet (which includes the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited) boasts a class-leading suite of available engines, it is the 6.7L PowerStroke that proves ready to impress; and every cargo demand will be answered with seamless 10-speed precision.

Every demand will also be answered with segment-defining strength - with the new F-250 leaving its main competitor, the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500, in the dust.

Available on the new F-250 Super Duty is the 6.7L PowerStroke V8. This high-output diesel engine boasts a single variable geometry turbocharger, as well as a charged air cooler induction system. When paired with a compacted graphite iron configuration (which affords improved tensile strength and superior temperature resistance), this assures optimal performance - with Ford’s 90-degree block generating a staggering 500 HP and 1,200 lb.-ft of torque.

Push rod valves provide smooth operations; a 10-speed automatic transmission affords superior mid-range capabilities; and a high-pressure common-rail fuel delivery system ensures optimal resource consumption as payload demands change. The 2023 F-250 Super Duty has been carefully crafted to achieve top performance, ratings earning up to 30,000 pounds of conventional trailering.

The 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 proves less impressive. Though it also boasts a V8 diesel engine (a 6.6L Duramax), this truck lacks the Super Duty’s power - generating a mere 445 HP and 910 lb.-ft of torque. This will leave Saskatoon drivers struggling to accommodate their cargo.

The Winner: 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty.

Performance extends beyond payloads - which is why the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty delivers custom drive-modes to Saskatoon.

Anchoring the turbodiesel engine is a 10-speed automatic transmission. This TorqShift system has been painstakingly calibrated for all-terrain adventures - delivering a variety of customizable power-bands that respond to changing conditions with ease. Take advantage of its Normal, Eco, Off-Road, Rock Crawl, Slippery, Trail, and Tow/Haul settings. Each regulates the throttle and speed output to maximize traction, while the electronic locking differential and stability control functions will be engaged automatically to improve handling.

This affords smooth performance on even the roughest roads - and it also allows the new F-250 to surpass its GMC competitor.

The 2023 Sierra 2500 diesel model doesn’t offer the same variety of drive-modes as the Super Duty, limiting operators to Normal, Snow, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul. This can impact overall performance, with traction ratios failing to deliver the necessary stability. Manoeuvring through tough terrains will prove challenging.

The Winner: 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty.
