Prepare for a new kind of payload experience. Ford has revealed plans to fuse its class-leadingĀ F-150 with a multi-functional tailgate - affording custom storage solutions for Saskatchewan drivers. This feature (which is rumoured for a 2023 release) will assure seamless access to cargo.
According to CarBuzz, renderings for a new multi-functional tailgate have been revealed - with Ford securing multiple patents for a three-section horizontal configuration. This system (which will serve as an upgrade to the current single slab design) will propel the F-150 past its Ram and Chevrolet competitors, affording both a centralized swing-door and independent right and left sides. This will allow drivers to quickly access the rear bay, and it will better accommodate cargo. Stow items with ease, courtesy of the dash-mounted buttons that will power-release the panels as needed.
Additionally, an access step has been centrally mounted beneath the tailgate, with a load sill that deploys outward. This position proves crucial, ensuring that drivers can use the feature even when the doors are fully raised.
The reveal of Ford's multi-functional tailgate promises to enhance the storage experience in Saskatchewan. Critics anticipate that this option will be included on the 2023 F-150 - but they concede that a late upgrade for the current 2022 model is also possible.
