With the release of the 2015 F-150, Ford redefined pick-up performance. Its innovative use of aluminum framing (with traditional steel sent to the scrap yards, taking its excess weight with it) ensured steady economy and effortless steerage, allowing the truck to more effectively adapt to everyday demands. Critics and drivers alike have celebrated this decision.
Now there’s yet another reason to celebrate - because Ford is partnering with Alcoa for its 2016 F-150.
According to Seeking Alpha, Ford and Alcoa (the Aluminum Company of America) are joining forces for the new F-150. The two will collaborate on a next-generation frame alloy. This alloy - known as Micromill - promises up to 30% more strength, allowing it to withstand daily rigors and potential collisions. It also requires less time to manufacture, streamlining the building process and increasing overall production.
This proves key for Ford, who struggled early in 2015 with F-150 assemblage. Lines were slow and sales slipped, causing many to wonder if the aluminum decision was a wise one. Micromill will ease those doubts.
Much attention is devoted to Ford’s F-150 - and rightfully so. This pickup powerhouse has redefined the North American market, delivering a series of mechanical, technological, and even structural innovations (such as using aluminum framing instead of the typical steel).
Â
The Novlan team wishes to remind drivers, however, that the F-150 is part of a much larger line-up - the F-Series - and that line-up is receiving a bold new look for 2016.
Â
According to The News Wheel, the F-Series will feature fifteen specific trims:
Each of these options will boast a 6.2L V8 or a 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel, ensuring steady performance on any road. Drivers may now choose the right engine and the right trim, customizing each truck to their specific needs.

When Ford announced the arrival of its 2015 F-150, critics and analysts shared doubtful stares - all curious to see how high the tallies would be, all wondering if the aluminum gambit would prove successful. There was much at stake for this pick-up’s performance.
Â
Early reviews were strong. Early sales, however, were not. The F-150 struggled to find its audience, with limited production options and customer confusion undermining its success. It didn’t rev to the top of the charts. It instead stalled in the middle, leaving many to question whether it could reclaim its position as North America’s favorite truck.
Â
The Detroit Free Press finally has an answer for that question - yes. The news source reports that the F-150 has finally stabilized its production schedule and regained traction among the charts, earning a 5% increase in August. This total (which translated to approximately 71,332 total units) was the highest Ford has posted since 2006, and it also launched the company’s overall profits up an impressive 6%.
Why is this so important? The F-150’s radical shift from steel to aluminum caused much concern during its initial release, with many wondering if it could maintain the necessary power, performance, and consumer appeal. With sales finally rebounding, Ford can now trust in its design choice and push forward.
When Ford announced the arrival of the 2016 F-150 Limited - a luxury model promising Mercedes-inspired styling and a bevy of tech features - drivers raised their brows in concern. Could the signature blue-collar pick-up survive such a transformation? Would it still deliver power? Would it still provide best-in-class towing? Was it even necessary?
Â
The Mashable team (as led by writer Chris Perkins) decided to answer these questions for themselves, taking the 2016 F-150 Limited for a spin on New York’s busy streets.
The 2016 F-150 proved itself worthy of rush-hour traffic, offering the Mashable team a series of innovations, including: a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine, EcoBoost technology, SYNC 3 access, and a refined interior. Power and performance remain the cornerstone of this pick-up. They’re simply now paired with style.
Novlan Bros. certainly approves of this Limited update. What about you?

In 2001 gaming developer Bungie introduced the world to a virtual experience like no other: Halo. This first-person platform delivered an intricate story and dynamic visuals, launching it to the forefront of popular culture and driving sales for the Xbox, the Vista and the MAC.
It’s soon to deliver big rewards for Ford as well - because, according to Digital Trends, a Halo-inspired F-150 is on the way.
To celebrate the upcoming release of Halo 5: Guardians, Ford is teaming with Microsoft to create the Sandcat. This F-150 variant is a BAJA XTR off-roader. It boasts Galpin shocks, side steps and military-style mods. Its 3.5L engine promises EcoBoost efficiency, while Deaver leaf springs ensure a smooth ride across even the toughest roads.
Inside drivers will discover a custom interior (complete with an Xbox One and two display screens), and the signature Halo olive color dominates the exterior. It’s the ultimate gaming machine.
Want to test it out? We certainly do. Truck Trend reports, however, that this F-150 is (currently) intended only for display and will be used as a showcase for gaming events. The Novlan team hopes that popular demand will sway Ford to release the Sandcat to the public, however, and bring a bit of Halo into the real world.

The F-150 isn’t a sports car. It doesn’t deliver high speeds and higher torque, sending drivers down each road in a whirl of tires and transmission fumes - or does it? A recent change to the engine promises something new.
Ford has fused the F-150 with a sports mode!

According to Digital Trends, the 2016 F-150 will feature a sports mode. This option - which borrows heavily from Ford’s other favorite, the Mustang - will allow the pick-up to maintain accelerated speeds for greater periods of time. It will optimizes low gear performance, while increasing power bands. This will let the truck rev through even the toughest environments with the mere push of a button.
The introduction of sports technology is the latest in a series of transformations for the F-150. In a quest to revitalize the North American market, Ford has been tweaking the design all season - bringing drivers duel fuel capabilities, trailer assist systems, SYNC 3 consoles and more. These elements combine for a pick-up unlike any other.
And the Novlan team can’t wait to try it out!

When specs for the 2015 F-150 were revealed, the automotive world reeled. A pick-up made of aluminum? How could it provide the necessary strength? How could it endure the daily demands of towing, hauling and off-road driving? It was, most critics thought, a mistake.
Soaring popularity and record-breaking quarters, however, have proven it to be nothing less than a success - and Ford now intends to build upon this success by introducing drivers to its 2016 model.
According to Torque News, the 2016 F-150 will rely much on its predecessor’s design (this includes the use of aluminum framing). It will simply fuse the platform with five unique traits:
Exterior color options will expand to include Shadow Black and Lithium Gray.
Trim options will expand to include upgraded headlights, redesigned grilles, 20-inch wheels and more.
Tech options will now include the Pro-Trailer Backup Assist system.
Tech options will also include the SYNC 3.
Engine options will now include dual fuel capabilities (specifically natural gas).
Through these subtle changes Ford will yet again redefine the pick-up market, connecting drivers to the platform they deserve.
No production schedule has yet been released for the 2016 F-150. The Novlan team expects, however, that it will arrive early next year - and we can’t wait.
