With the introduction of the 2021 Super Duty fleet Ford is bringing more than high-performance to Alberta (although, none can deny the immense power of the available 6.7L turbo-diesel engine, which assures 475 HP and 1,050 lb.-ft of torque). It’s also emphasizing control - with these trucks offering exclusive Adaptive Steering capability.
According to Ford Authority, the new Super Duty line-up (which includes the F-250, F-350, and F-450) will receive an Adaptive Steering upgrade - with the system being offered as an option on all Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. This will bolster the commercial experience, removing the usual limitations of a fixed-gear system.ÂÂ
Advanced sensors within the steering wheel monitor operator reactions, noting column position and turn speeds. They also track acceleration patterns, immediately observing when the Super Duty has increased or decreased pedal performance. This allows them to then adjust rotational tension, modifying revolutions per second to afford more precise control; while wheel trajectories are tweaked to improve manoeuvrability. Drivers can seamlessly adapt to new environments by taking advantage of real-time support.ÂÂ
