Searching for a used pick-up? The Kelley Blue Book team suggests the F-150 - recently pitting the 2015 model against top-ranked competitors. In a grueling comparison of strength, this Ford platform proved to be the ultimate half-ton option for drivers: delivering class-leading towing and payload capabilities.

We, of course, already knew this.

According to KBB, the 2015 F-150 delivers long-lasting value. When placed in a hood-to-hood competition with the Dodge Ram, this platform proved superior - with its standard 3.5L V6 yielding 282 HP (6,250 RPMs) and 253 lb.-ft of torque (at 4,250 RPMs). Variable camshaft timing assures an impressive power-band, blending optimal air and fuel intakes; while the aluminum block boasts natural aspiration technology. A six-speed automatic transmission bolsters each response; and an integrated Tow/Haul function is essential on long-haul journeys, offering increased traction distribution to promote a steady ride.

When these technologies combine, they provide segment-leading performance - with the 2015 F-150 delivering 7,600 trailering pounds and 1,910 payload pounds. The Ram, comparatively, offers only 4,460 trailering pounds and 1,880 payload pounds.

The difference is clear.

It was an expectation of failure - with Ford’s critics shrieking about the dangers of aluminum, decrying the loss of steel. In 2014 the Big Blue Oval transformed its signature F-150 into a leaner, lighter machine. No longer would it be defined by bulky lines and heavy metals. Instead efficiency would shape each mile.

None believed this to be a worthwhile goal. Doom was anticipated.

As Torque News explains, however, success was all that came. With the launch of the 2015 F-150, Ford introduced drivers to aluminum paneling - and they liked it. This light material helped to shed 700 pounds from the ladder-style frame, ensuring a more economical ride (MPG ratios rose to 19 in the city and 26 on the highway). It also optimized the V8, reducing engine strain and allowing the truck to glide to 385 HP.

Is it any wonder, therefore, that the aluminum F-150 has continued to dominate the sales chart? Torque News recently revealed the year-to-year progression for Ford’s beloved truck - and it should silence every critic:

2014 Sales: 480,492
2015 Sales: 515,034
2016 Sales: 574,034
2017 Sales: 591,864

The aluminum F-150 has delivered staggering profits in North America, generating more than 60% of total F-Series sales; and, with the release of the 2018 platform, that success should continue. After all, why would drivers turn away from class-leading trailering (up to 8,000 pounds) and exceptional torque (up to 510 lb.-ft)?

Despite a shaky start - with drivers initially questioning the value of aluminum construction and production lines unable to meet mid-quarter demands - this pick-up has roared to front of the chrome-colored pack, with sales nearing the 700,000 mark! This is staggering, especially when compared to its nearest competitors (the Silverado, with approximately 537,000 units; the Ram, with approximately, 407,000 units). Ford reigns supreme.

2015 ford f150 for saleThe pick-up market rarely inspires thoughts of efficiency. These big-chassised beasts deliver power, not eco-friendly technology. They consume fuel to adapt to every environment and every pay-load.

Ford - in its quest to redefine automotives - has changed this. The 2015 F-150 was just named Green Truck of the Year!

According to USAToday, Ford’s 2015 F-150 earned recognition at the San Antonio Auto Show. The pick-up (along with the Chevrolet Volt, which was named Green Car of the Year) was noted for its economical construction and fuel-prep package, which allows it to use both natural gas and propane. This ensures fewer carbon emissions and a more efficient allocation of resources. Less gasoline is needed to take advantage of best-in-class towing.

The 2015 F-150 has inspired much acclaim. and this latest award merely continues the F-Series' tradition of innovation. High performance now combines with hybrid capabilities.

2015 ford f150 dealer saskatchewan canadaWhen Ford announced the arrival of its 2015 F-150, critics and analysts shared doubtful stares - all curious to see how high the tallies would be, all wondering if the aluminum gambit would prove successful. There was much at stake for this pick-up’s performance.

Early reviews were strong. Early sales, however, were not. The F-150 struggled to find its audience, with limited production options and customer confusion undermining its success. It didn’t rev to the top of the charts. It instead stalled in the middle, leaving many to question whether it could reclaim its position as North America’s favorite truck.

The Detroit Free Press finally has an answer for that question - yes. The news source reports that the F-150 has finally stabilized its production schedule and regained traction among the charts, earning a 5% increase in August. This total (which translated to approximately 71,332 total units) was the highest Ford has posted since 2006, and it also launched the company’s overall profits up an impressive 6%.

Why is this so important? The F-150’s radical shift from steel to aluminum caused much concern during its initial release, with many wondering if it could maintain the necessary power, performance, and consumer appeal. With sales finally rebounding, Ford can now trust in its design choice and push forward.

We can’t wait to see what happens next!

2015 ford f150 halo sandcatIn 2001 gaming developer Bungie introduced the world to a virtual experience like no other: Halo. This first-person platform delivered an intricate story and dynamic visuals, launching it to the forefront of popular culture and driving sales for the Xbox, the Vista and the MAC.

It’s soon to deliver big rewards for Ford as well - because, according to Digital Trends, a Halo-inspired F-150 is on the way.

To celebrate the upcoming release of Halo 5: Guardians, Ford is teaming with Microsoft to create the Sandcat. This F-150 variant is a BAJA XTR off-roader. It boasts Galpin shocks, side steps and military-style mods. Its 3.5L engine promises EcoBoost efficiency, while Deaver leaf springs ensure a smooth ride across even the toughest roads.

Inside drivers will discover a custom interior (complete with an Xbox One and two display screens), and the signature Halo olive color dominates the exterior. It’s the ultimate gaming machine.

Want to test it out? We certainly do. Truck Trend reports, however, that this F-150 is (currently) intended only for display and will be used as a showcase for gaming events. The Novlan team hopes that popular demand will sway Ford to release the Sandcat to the public, however, and bring a bit of Halo into the real world.
