2017 will be the year of efficiency. Recent rumors report the impending arrival of Ford’s next-generation F-150 - which will feature a diesel engine. News of this engineering change was originally met with considerable skepticism from critics. The consumer response to other economical pick-ups (such as Chrysler’s RAM) has, however, favorably turned the tide.
The release of exclusive spy footage should deliver an even greater reaction.
According to Yahoo, the 2017 F-150 diesel was spotted near the company’s Dearborn headquarters. Exclusive footage reveals the use of a 3.0L turbocharged V6 (which, should early estimates prove true, will provide 254 HP and 440 lb.-ft of torque). Keen-eyed consumers will recognize this engine as the one used for Land Rover’s dynamic Range line-up.
This footage offers more than a quick glimpse of the 2017 F-150, though. It instead promises economy, with critics already predicting a 30 MPG rating. Pair this with the F-Series' best-in-class payloads and the truck should rev to the top of the charts.
By fusing diesel performance with F-150 strength, Ford should (once again) redefine the market).
