What’s that sound? Could it be the rumble of a Duratec diesel engine or is it perhaps the shift of a 10-speed automatic transmission? While we can’t precisely identify the noise, we can at least trace its source - the 2019 Ranger WildTrak is coming!
According to PickupTrucks.com, the 2019 Ranger has been spied in North America - with photographers managing to sneak a peek at it in Detroit. Though the chassis was hidden beneath layers of plastic, critics have been able to discern a few concrete specs. Look inside the cabin and discover custom orange stitching and WildTrak cushion emblems. A 115-volt outlet rests just beyond the passenger door, providing ample power for tools and off-road toys; while the exhaust valve has been moved to the underbody to create a more efficient rear track (this will increase overall ground clearance by up to two inches). The C-Pillar also features unique buttresses, which showcase the newly elongated profile and lend the fenders more depth.
What should most impress drivers, however, is the anticipated powertrain. While no official specs have been confirmed, many critics believe that the WildTrak will feature a Duratec engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering performance similar to Ford’s T6 platform. This would ensure total domination of the compact market and launch the Raptor to the top of the charts.
