Pull-Type Forage Harvesters

BEST IN HIGH CAPACITY AND CHOP QUALITY

No one builds rugged, high-capacity forage harvesters like New Holland. The best-selling line of pull-type models provides the uniform chopping you're looking for and all the reliability you've come to expect from New Holland.

CROP FLOW

UNIFORM CUT LENGTH IS KEY

No A uniform length of cut not only yields high-quality feed, it makes everything easier—unloading, blowing, storing and feeding. The key to a consistent chop is smooth crop flow through the forage harvester. It's a process New Holland has perfected. And it's what makes these forage harvesters so effective.

SMOOTH, POWER-DRIVEN FEEDROLLS

Top chop quality starts with four power-driven feedrolls that deliver material smoothly to the cutterhead. The front feedrolls are aggressive to handle heavy materials and pull in slugs. The smaller, rear feedrolls grip the crop tightly to ensure an even, precise cut. Spring-loaded upper feedrolls keep material compressed.

UNIFORM CHOPPING WITH 12-KNIFE CUTTERHEAD

The heart of these forage harvesters is the massive 12-knife cutterhead that's built to move more crop and chop it uniformly using full-width, spiral, hardened-alloy knives with tungsten edges. There's no better cutterhead on the market, and none that's easier to sharpen.

MORE CUT LENGTH CHOICES

You'll get the widest selection of cut lengths to meet your exact feeding requirements. Vary length of cut by changing feedroll speed, adding or removing knives or by using one of six optional recutter screens for nonprocessor machines.

NO SLOWDOWN AT THE BLOWER

Smooth crop flow continues at the blower. A 1000-rpm blower on the FP230 and FP240 moves crop fast for increased productivity. A quick-shift, two-speed blower on the 790 lets you gear down the tractor in easy-to-blow crops.

SHARPENING AND ADJUSTMENT

FEATURES TO KEEP YOU CHOPPING AT PEAK EFFICIENCY

Chop quality is the hallmark of New Holland forage harvesters due to the built-in features that help to maintain them. Knife sharpening and shearbar adjustment are a snap. And the cutterhead reverses to ensure a true cutting edge on all knives.

FLIP-UP FEEDROLLS FOR EASY CLEANING

A New Holland exclusive, flip-up feedrolls allow you to routinely clean and inspect the shearbar and smooth roll scraper without taking them out of the machine. The upper feedroll lifts up without removing the crophead.

BUILT-IN KNIFE SHARPENERS

A built-in knife sharpener in these forage harvesters features a huge, 3-inch-diameter, ratchet-advanced stone for faster-than-ever sharpening. (The model 790 uses a 2-inch-diameter stone.)

EASY MAINTENANCE, LONG WEAR

Lightweight, hinged shielding panels lift easily, making lubrication, adjustment and inspection nearly effortless. And the shearbar is hardened on both the top and side for even wear and extra-long life. It’s also reversible, so when one side wears down, just turn it around.

CROPPRO™ CROP PROCESSOR

ONE-PASS CORN SILAGE PROCESSING

Improve your corn silage feed efficiency with New Holland's optional onboard CropPro™ crop processor. Factory-installed between the cutterhead and blower, it shears cobs and stems, and cracks and crushes kernels, producing silage that is higher in effective fiber and easier for the herd to digest.

HIGHER MILK PRODUCTION WITHOUT SUPPLEMENTS

More complete crop processing means more digestible feed and better milk production from your herd, without buying additional feed or supplements, and without the expense and process time of a stationary roller mill.

EASY SWITCH BETWEEN CROPS

The unit comes factory installed, so the only adjustment necessary is when you switch from making corn silage to haylage. To do that, just remove or replace a single baffle and you're set to go. A 7-foot-long, 11 3/8-inch-diameter cross-flow auger moves silage from the crop processor to the blower fan.

METALERT© III

PROTECT EQUIPMENT AND CATTLE

Broken rake tines, sickle sections and lost hitch pins can turn up in the cleanest fields. Large pieces can cause costly cutterhead damage, while smaller pieces can end up in livestock feed and harm animals. An easy way to avoid these dangers is to install the Metalert® III electronic metal detector on your forage harvester.

COMES WITH FIVE-YEAR PROTECTION PLAN

The Metalert III system delivers peace of mind and a five-year cutterhead protection plan that pays for all parts and labor to repair any damaged part resulting from ferrous metal entering the cutterhead. The Metalert III microcomputer also provides on-board diagnostic capabilities.

SYSTEM BASED ON MAGNET AND SENSOR

A magnet and sensor are housed in the lower front feedroll. The magnet emits a constant magnetic field between the two front stainless steel feedrolls. When a stray piece of iron or steel enters, a signal is sent to a solenoid located above the upper feedroll to stop them. It also shuts off power to an electric clutch on the reversing gearbox.

WARNING LIGHT AND HORN LET YOU KNOW

A built-in alarm light and horn alert you when metal is detected. Simply back the material out of the feedrolls with a feedroll control switch. Metalert III automatically resets when the metal has been removed.

HEADERS

WIDE SELECTION OF CROP-SAVING HEADERS

Keep pace with the high-capacity demands of New Holland forage harvesters by choosing the right crophead. All are PTO shaft-driven for easier hookup and removal. Shaft drive provides increased reliability and less maintenance than chain drives.

THREE SUPER-SWEEP WINDROW PICKUP HEADERS

Three models are available:
• 890W—Works with 790 harvester and measures 71 inches from tine to tine.
• 27P—Works with FP230 and FP240 harvesters and measures 76.5 inches from tine to tine.
• 29P—Works with FP230 and FP240 harvesters and measures 92 inches from tine to tine.

FEATURES ON WINDROW PICKUP HEADERS

The open-ended design of these headers allows for easy pickup of wide or wind-blown windrows. Closely spaced, curved rubber pickup tines flex to get short, fine stems. Extra-rugged gauge wheels take the punishment of frequent bumps. A floating auger with retractable fingers provides even crop flow into the feedrolls

EFFICIENT CORNHEADS LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND

Two cornheads are available:
• 824—Works with 790 and FP230 harvesters and comes in two-row narrow or wide 28- to 34-in., or 36- to 40-in. row spacing in two-inch increments.
• 3PN—Works with FP230 and FP240 harvesters and comes in three-row narrow or wide 28- to 32-inch row spacing.

FIVE ROW-INDEPENDENT CORNHEADS

Key features make these cornheads effective. Floating points with adjustable skid shoes eliminate bulldozing and maximize intake. Spring-loaded cutoff discs cut corn close to the soil. Gathering chains work away from mud and extend far forward to grab stalks before they're cut. An aggressive auger delivers a smooth flow of material.
