Mark your calendars, Alberta. The all-electric F-150 is coming - with critics estimating a full production release as early as 2021.
According to The Drive, Ford is revving toward hybrid domination. The new F-150 (which will be designed for pick-up fans and EV enthusiasts alike, boasting a potent electric engine suite) is currently being developed for the North American market. By entering a partnership with innovative tech company Rivian - and pouring $500 million into developing advanced mobility patents - the Big Blue Oval promises dynamic performance by 2021.
Official specs for this truck, sadly, remain scarce. The Drive reports, however, that the F-150 should boast an emission-free design, utilizing electric-only propulsion, lithium-ion systems, and regenerative braking to optimize the power-band. It will eliminate the need for traditional gasoline and will instead offer class-leading economy through a permanent-magnet motor. This will push the current MPG ratios - up to 22 in the city and 30 on the highway - to the maximum, with a more than 10% increase anticipated.
The all-electric F-150 will bring efficiency to the half-ton market - and we can't wait. To learn more about the upcoming Ford pick-up (including production date details and available specs) contact our team today!
