It's no longer a race for half-ton domination - with the winner always pre-determined and the competition falling behind. The Ford F-Series has (once again) revved to the top of the charts; and critics wonder whether any brand can ever hope to unseat it.
We somehow don't think so.
As Market Realist explains, the F-Series - anchored by the 2018 F-150, F-250, and F-350 - achieved a 7% year-to-year growth in March, earning 87,000 total unit sales. This marks the 11th consecutive month of fleet gains; and it showcases the true popularity of the Ford brand, with drivers propelling these trucks toward (yet another) record-setting quarter. Overall profit increases are expected to exceed 19.4%.
How is the possible? The Novlan team credits Ford's latest diesel powertrain - with the F-Series offering a 6.7L V6. This class-exclusive option yields staggering capability (250 HP and 440 lb.-ft of torque) and unprecedented economy (30 MPGs on the highway). It blends direct-injection technology with an advanced turbocharger to optimize each rev, and this transforms every pick-up into a true all-terrain beast.
Is it any surprise that drivers are seeking these platforms out?
