Discbine® Center-Pivot Disc Mower-Conditioners
CLOSER CUTTING, FASTER DRYDOWN, INCREASED DURABILITY
New Holland has taken the Discbine® mower-conditioner to a new level with two new center-pivot models. Combining both speed and performance, the new Discbine® 313 and Discbine® 316 feature increased durability, more efficient crop flow and smoother, more effective conditioning.
LARGER DISCS, WIDER CONDITIONING
The combination of larger cutting discs and a wider conditioning system leads to cleaner cutting, better crop flow and more consistent drying. Co-rotating disc modules have been removed on the Discbine 313 and reduced to one pair on the Discbine 316. This greatly reduces the crop convergence between the cutterbar and the conditioner.
IMPROVED FLOTATION
Improved header attaching link geometry contributes to more responsive flotation. The rear pivot points of the header attaching links are lower than the pivot points on the front, ensuring the header moves up and back should you encounter an obstacle. In addition, the upper end of the flotation springs are anchored with a ball-and-socket arrangement that eliminates any binding as the header moves through its flotation range.
TAILOR YOUR SWATHS OR WINDROWS
You can lay down a wide swath for more sun exposure and better natural drying. Adjustable windrow shields and a new spring-assist swathgate adjustment lever make it easy to customize windrow and swath formation.
SIMPLIFIED DURABLE DRIVELINES
Choose either the drawbar swivel hitch or 2-point swivel hitch and get maximum turning performance with zero driveline wrap-up. PTO power is transferred from the front swivel gearbox to a second swivel gearbox at the rear of the tongue that maintains perfect alignment of the output driveshaft to cutterbar- and conditioner-drive gearbox on the left side of the unit. The new MowMax II cutterbar’s innovative design allows driving the cutterbar from only one end, which simplifies maintenance and leaves the top of the header uncluttered. While all u-joints are easily accessible for easy servicing, lube interval has been extended to 50 hours so you spend less time on daily maintenance.
EASIER ACCESS
Lightweight poly bifold shields provide easy access to the cutterbar and resist denting. Material overlap keeps curtains in place without the need for clips or magnets.
MOWMAX™ II CUTTERBAR
CLEANER CUTTING WITH MOWMAX II CUTTERBAR
The rugged MowMax™ II cutterbar features larger discs with larger, heavier gears, bearings and interconnecting shafts for maximum durability. This design has larger gears and one pair of wet splines to provide extra protection where the torque throughput is the greatest. The larger disc diameter also allows you to cut closer with less cutterbar tilt for consistent cutting height without scalloping—from 3/4 to 2 3/4 inches with standard skid shoes. The increased surface area of the larger discs and the new “tapered skirt” disc profile provides a smoother transition of crop to the conditioner for more uniform conditioning action and reduced power consumption.
SHOCKPRO™ PROTECTION
Unexpected objects/obstructions in hayfields are a fact of life, particularly for custom operators. New Holland-exclusive ShockPRO™ disc drive hubs absorb the impacts caused by hitting those objects before damage to drive components can occur and are quick to replace in the field so you can keep harvesting when the weather is right. Heavy, full-coverage, cast rock guards provide additional cutterbar protection.
3-YEAR WARRANTY PROTECTION
You not only get the best disc cutting performance in the industry, you get peace of mind with 36 months of protection coverage. That’s two years of additional protection on the MowMax II cutterbar after the base one-year warranty on the full machine. It’s a New Holland exclusive.
CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
INTRODUCING WIDEDRY™ CONDITIONING
New Holland’s new best-in-class WideDry™ conditioning systems are 125 inches wide, representing a 22% width increase compared to the H7000 Series. Since the system is wider, the crop mat is thinner and flows more smoothly and evenly for more uniform conditioning and faster drydown. Crop converges more smoothly from the cutterbar to the conditioning system, reducing crop feeding issues, particularly in thick grasses, cane and other high-volume crops.
THREE CHOICES
Choose from three proven New Holland conditioning systems
• Chevron-design intermeshing rubber rolls
• Steel intermeshing rolls
• LeaningEdge™ flails
CHEVRON-DESIGN ROLLS
The chevron design of both the rubber and steel rolls helps to crimp and crack stems evenly along the entire length of the plant, for fast drydown but gentle leaf retention. This proven system is best for legume crops and crop mixtures, and prevents material from wrapping around the rolls
TWO-SPEED ROLL CONDITIONING
Roll conditioning systems generate air movement that can blow lighter crop away from the cutterbar and adversely affect cutting quality. For better cut quality, you can switch the sheaves on the roll drive provided with the rubber chevron rolls or steel intermeshing rolls, and slow roll speed from 750 rpm to 640 rpm. This feature allows the roll speed to be decreased to minimize air bursts while maintaining cutterbar speed to provide excellent cut quality in light crop conditions.
LEANINGEDGE™ FLAIL CONDITIONING
For fast drying of grass hay, choose New Holland flail conditioning. The 20-degree tangent of
LeaningEdge™ flails causes more outward pressure, pushing crop against the adjustable hood for more aggressive conditioning, then releasing crop at the ideal moment to prevent carry-around for uniform, fast-drying swaths or windrows. A slow-speed kit is also available for the flail conditioning system.
NO-TOOL CONDITIONING ADJUSTMENT
Both the New Holland roll systems and flail system are easy to tailor to your crop and moisture conditions. No tools are needed to adjust roll pressure. The unique torsion-bar roll–pressure system maintains near constant pressure for consistent conditioning. The system automatically releases roll pressure to clear plugs, without having to stop.
On the flail system, a turn of a crank is all that is needed to adjust conditioning intensity. Raise the hood away from the flails for lighter conditioning or lower the hood for more aggressive action. An optional textured hood liner offers even more thorough grass conditioning.

REPLACEMENT KNIVES TO MATCH FIELD CONDITIONS
The Discbine 313 and 316 can be equipped with a choice of six different cutterbar knives, depending on your crop conditions and soil type. All knives feature two cutting edges and can be flipped for double the cutting life. These knives are available from the parts department:
• 14-degree smooth knives are standard on the Discbine® MowMax™ II cutterbar and provide the best choice and value for most conditions.
• 14-degree serrated knives offer the same advantages as 14-degree smooth knives, with extended wear in abrasive conditions.
• 18-degree smooth knives are more effective in down crop conditions by providing more crop lift.
• 18-degree serrated knives offer the same advantages in down crops as the 18-degree smooth knives, with extended wear in abrasive conditions.
• 7-degree smooth knives offer clean cutting with less ash content, and will reduce crop blow down in light or short crops.
• Rock knives are designed for durability in rocky/stony conditions.>
