The ending seem predestined. As Ford rolled its F-150 Raptor to the startling line, all spectators smirked - knowing that this massive off-roader would prove ill-suited to the rigors of the track. It would soon sputter in defeat, undone by the sleeker (faster) capabilities of Dodgeâ€™s Challenger Hellcat. There was nothing left to do but watchâ€¦ and laugh.

As Motor Authority explains, however, there was nothing humorous about this race.

The 2018 F-150 crushed all competitors... including the supercharged SRT Hellcat! Boasting a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 engine, this pick-up raced down the track - blitzing through the quarter-mile stretch in a mere 12.49-seconds. How is this possible? Motor Authority notes that Ford bolstered the Raptor with a sport-tuned suspension and a new methanol injection system (which enhances air intake and improves fuel distribution). This provided an 18 PSI pressure increase to ensure fast performance.
